Jeff handles a broad range of matters related to national and Michigan business law and national and international contract law , Michigan liquor licensing and brewery consulting, e-commerce and intellectual property law, including all facets of trademark registration and protection in the United States Patent and Trademark Office and registering of copyrights in the Copyright Office.  He provides counseling regarding trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights and unfair competition with particular emphasis on issues related to the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights.

Trademarks / Copyrights / Patents:

Jeff has experience with administrative actions before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including applications, responses to office actions, appeals, opposition actions, and cancellation actions. He has also counseled numerous clients with respect to licensing issues and issues related to the acquisition or sale of trademarks, copyrights and patents.  He has helped clients with the development, protection, and exploitation of music, books, art, and software.

Internet Law and E-Commerce:

Jeff’s Internet Law and E-Commerce practice concentrates on advising both companies in connection with their use of computer software, the Internet, electronic commerce, Internet marketing, licensing of intellectual property over the Internet, acquisition of intellectual property, and joint venture matters with companies based around the country and across the world.  He has experience in the purchase and sale of technology businesses and assets, as well as identification and protection of intellectual property assets.  He has advised companies regarding web site development issues, terms and conditions for use on web sites, privacy policies, and on electronic contracting, signatures, and software licensing relating to web sites as well.

Business Services:

His Business Law and Tax Law practice includes assisting individuals in the organization of new businesses and the representation of companies from single owner entities to large multinational companies.

Michigan Liquor Licenses:

Jeff advises and assists clients in their purchase or transfer of liquor licenses, including guiding clients through the process of obtaining approval from the State of Michigan and preparing the proper documentation to comply with MLCC rules and Michigan law.

In addition, Jeff advises breweries from the start-up phase through expansion, and is heavily involved in the brewery industry.  Jeff assists breweries with licensing issues and organizing funding, leasing or purchasing real estate, zoning, and employment issues.
